REMINDER: There are also other Internet users than young male geeks

This is not and idea but a rule of thumb: most of the people who create websites are young male geeks (YMGs). Usually people make websites about things that they find interesting. Therefore most of the existing sites are about topics that YMGs find interesting. The result is that mentioned topics have much more competition than topics that don't usually attract YMGs. However, the majority of Internet users are not YMGs. Therefore it is generally easier to get visitors to a site about flowers or cute hats than to a site about new computer graphic cards. I will refer to this article soon when I present some ideas that are targeted to audiences that don't necessarily build websites very often.

Don't get me wrong. I'm IMG myself and there is nothing bad for creating sites for us. But if you are about to make money, consider other target audiences too.
